On Monday, I went to a screening of the French action movie Special Forces (Forces spéciales) starring Diane Kruger. The German-born former model and ballerina plays a French journalist abducted in Pakistan by an incredibly handsome, Cambridge-educated Taliban leader. Fortunately, the French government is on the case deploying a Special Forces unit, led by fellow former model Djimon Hounsou, to rescue her from a dreaded fate. Got that?

Diane spends much of the film looking a lot less fashionable than her real-life self doing the best she can with a so-so script (Her faint from exhaustion is totally believable). I can only imagine the cravings for pretty clothes and life’s luxuries after months of playing a dust covered, chap-lipped heroine. Here she is as we know and love her from the October 2009 issue of Elle. Diane can play the dirty roles but glamour certainly looks good on her!
