This week marked the return of Haute Couture to Parisian runways. Ranging from the outlandish to the downright gorgeous, the Spring 2013 shows brought a variety of looks, many of which were consistent with this year's trend of black and white. Chanel, as always, had the most spectacular set, with Dior not far behind. I loved Valentino’s collection, a favorite among critics, and Giambattista Valli's pairing of slacks with ball gowns was delish.

With award season in full swing, I thought I'd share a few looks by Elie Saab, celebrity stylists' go-to designer for red carpet glamour. Most are betting that at least one of his creations will appear at the Oscars. Beautiful and beaded, they're perfect for a Hollywood star.

They sparkle, they shimmer, they shine and they work a striking silhouette into place for the cameras to get papping away. His is that traditional red carpet fashion fodder. - Jessica Bumpus, Vogue UK
