Interiors: Modern Glamour on Mercer Island
DesirĂ© | 8.7.2012 Kelly Wearstler has such a powerful and distinct point of view that most people either love it or just don’t get it. I’m sure you know which camp I’m in! And no matter how you feel on the matter, it’s undeniable that her provocative designs are one of a kind. Kelly’s recent project, an 11,000 sqft Mercer Island home, is a perfect example. Here’s a peak courtesy of Elle Décor.
The walls of the entry are painted in Glidden's (Yes! Good ol' Glidden) Onyx Black and the patterned floor uses 3 different marbles. The chandelier is vintage and on the ceiling, a striped wall covering by SJW Studios. Homeowner Lara Sanderson refers to the space as "the Kelly special."
Kelly sacrificed a small, upstairs bedroom to create this double-height library. Of the custom brass spiral staircase, Kelly remarks, "It was like adding a piece of jewelry to the room."
Above: A De Sede sofa makes quite the statement in the art-filled salon. Very-Kelly tchotchkes sit atop a custom coffee table. Below: Two purple Venetian glass chandeliers hang above purple, Art Deco dining chairs. Ceilings by De Gournay, walls by Cannon/Bullock, and a rug by... the Rug Company (who else?).

Above: A Murano-glass chandelier in the master bedroom. Stools from Epoca sit at the foot of what appears to be a leather upholstered bed. Below: The master bath walls are covered in onyx fantistico (I love that name!). The flooring is marble and onyx.
