The name Sukio comes from the Japanese word for "like" or "love" but now has become synonymous with what I find luxe, lovely, and too chic not to share! My aesthetic of choice: MODERN GLAMOUR – a style that marries multiple ideas, viewing traditional notions of glamour through a sophisticated lens. In a word, it’s sooo Sukio! - Desiré

The Set, The Shoot: Lola Rykiel for Harper's Bazaar

The Set, The Shoot: Lola Rykiel for Harper's Bazaar

The Set: Tribeca Residence by Jordan Carlyle

I actually blogged about this particular set a few months ago, but recently discovered additional photos on the designer’s website. Located in Tribeca, the home has all the features one would expect of a hip, Manhattan pad. The modern furniture exudes ‘hotel chic’ while glamorous little touches add personality.

My favorite space is the office, with its layers of interesting art and accessories. It's an example of what Jordan imagines for every space: "I am a believer in living well and it starts in your home. I think every home should have fresh flowers, artwork, and books."

The Shoot: Lola Rykiel for Harper's Bazaar

Lola Rykiel shared the inside scoop on life as PR director for her grandmother’s label, Sonia Rykiel, in the mag’s column "Girl Behind the Brand." Although Harper's Bazaar restyled the apartment with clothing and accessories, the spirit of Jordan's design shines through.

Finding the set was tricky, but clues like patterned drapery and furniture details help connect the dots.

Interiors: Lee Kleinhelter Takes Black & White to New Heights

Model apartment by Lee Kleinhelter

When an Atlanta highrise needed a signature look for its model unit, developers turned to one of my favorite designers, Lee Kleinhelter. I featured her home on Sukio last year, and this design is similar in aesthetic but for one noticeable difference, Lee’s limited palette of black and white. Classic but perfectly on trend, the combination takes several forms throughout the space, demonstrating its versatility and ability to wow!

I'm in love with this vignette in the master bedroom. It's serene, modern, and edgy all at once. Both the urchin sculpture and pillow are available at Lee's store, Pieces. (Shop the look)

Interiors: Chicly Circular

While researching an upcoming article, I came across more pics of the spiral staircase from Kelly Wearstler's Mercer Island project. Spacesaving AND gorgeous. Every home should have one.

Interiors: Martine Chaisson's Living Room Then & Now

Like personal style, our home’s décor can constantly evolve. A new accessory here, small tweaks there. Layout adjustments, art swapping, restyling… some rooms are never quite done. Such may be the case of Martine Chaisson’s living room. Thanks to Lonny and Domaine magazines, we see how the space has changed from then, streamlined modern with a touch of glam…

To now, richly-layered and multifunctional.

The most noticeable differences include luxe drapery, an ornate fireplace mantel, and a corner dining area. What do you think of the changes?

With the exception of a few tweaks, the remainder of Martine’s New Orleans apartment has changed little in the past few years. I still love the bar area and her glamorous little bedroom!

Interiors: Jamie Drake’s Swank New Digs

With sweeping views of the Hudson, fabulously tall ceilings, and a car elevator, Jamie Drake’s new apartment could easily be deemed spectacular before design work even began. But leave it to Jamie to up the ante with luxurious finishes and his trademark use of color. The result is a swank pad perfect for entertaining.

As a non-cook, Jamie designed the kitchen more for hanging out than food prep, "What I really wanted was for the kitchen to be a very glamorous wet bar." And so, the designer created a two-tiered island with gold-leafed cabinetry, an overlapping Corian table, and plenty of space for cocktails.

The master suite is just as glam in shades of gray, coral, and peach – a quiet place to unwind after a long night's affair.
