The name Sukio comes from the Japanese word for "like" or "love" but now has become synonymous with what I find luxe, lovely, and too chic not to share! My aesthetic of choice: MODERN GLAMOUR – a style that marries multiple ideas, viewing traditional notions of glamour through a sophisticated lens. In a word, it’s sooo Sukio! - Desiré

DC Design House 2012: Missoni Madness

The Teenager's Getaway is all about Missoni... and Mid-Century Modern... and Coca-Cola (A few bottles were used for styling). Textiles by Missoni Home are literally used from floor to ceiling in this fun little corner of the house. Designed by Victoria Sanchez, the room's neutral wall color provides a blank canvas for wild prints, contemporary art, and old-school furniture.

Vintage pieces can be found throughout the space including the sofa and armchairs, which were reupholstered in what else? Missoni! Perhaps the star of the room, an oversized pendant adds a colorful punch overhead. The fixture's cover can be unzipped, removed and replaced with an array of fashionable options. So cute! Any teen who lays claim to this space is a very lucky one indeed.

Friday Fashion: Bravo Missoni

After months of anticipation, the fashion elite catch the first glimpse of Missoni for Target

It's finally here! Missoni's collection for Target debuted in NYC this week and by the looks of these beautiful photos (these too), it seems to be the fashion event of the year. The launch party at Target's pop-up store attracted the crème de la crème of the fashion world who reportedly snatched up Missoni wares with haste. Rachel Zoe buying a sweater from Target??? It may have actually happened. Even my mother, who was initially unimpressed by the collaboration (too many "zigzags"), has finally yielded. She admits that the kiddie clothes are super cute and has grown fond of Missoni's black and white motifs.

Personally, I believe this is much more than designer clothes at a discount store. I see it as a celebration of the Missoni legacy. The fanfare and hoopla make perfect sense when viewed as a tribute to this incredibly fashionable family. Bravo Missoni!

Glam it up: Missoni for Target

The internet is raving about the sneak peek of Missoni for Target via All the Way Up Here. There are lots of cutesy lifestyle items but for the modern glamour home, I'd take one of the above, back it with something, stuff it with something, and add pizzazz to a sofa or chair. In fact, it would make a chicer pillow than the ones designed for the collection. Just a thought.

And speaking of cute, isn't this bike darling?

Friday Fashion: Ethno Chic

Alejandra Alonso for Vogue Russia

Alejandra Alonso, photographed by Mariano Vivanco, embodies ethno chic in this Vogue Russia editorial. I absolutely adore the prominent use of African headwraps, which I wore myself a decade ago. Trend alert: African-influenced textiles and ethno chic design (a la DVF's home collection & fabrics by Iman) are making their way to a home/closet near you!

If you live in DC and want to model a chic headwrap this season, check out Africa Underground at the Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art on May 20th. Among the event's many activities is a headwrapping demo by Deniece Moudou.
