The name Sukio comes from the Japanese word for "like" or "love" but now has become synonymous with what I find luxe, lovely, and too chic not to share! My aesthetic of choice: MODERN GLAMOUR – a style that marries multiple ideas, viewing traditional notions of glamour through a sophisticated lens. In a word, it’s sooo Sukio! - Desiré

Be Right Back!

There's nothing like a quick trip to New York to stir the creative pot. Hoping to return refreshed, inspired, and full of ideas.

Interiors: Midtown Pied-à-terre

Take a break from your week with this urban retreat (Ooh! That rhymed). Here's a little mid-week eye candy by designer Kelly Behun. I find the pops of yellow in the breakfast nook particularly delightful.

Interiors: Mario Testino Royale

Fashion + Interiors = The Perfect Match, which is why I love this Vogue editorial featuring model Natalia Vodianova and the eclectic home of photographer Mario Testino Royale. Aptly dubbed the "Casa of Curiosities" by Vogue writers, Testino's home showcases furniture, accessories, and art from countless countries including his native Peru. Crisp, white walls provide the perfect canvas for a global mix of color and texture.

"...I enjoy the idea of all the different cultures meeting here. Japan meets Peru, Peru meets America, America meets England... Total integration of cultures."

Behind the Scenes: KWID Malibu

Things that make me happy: Twitter, smart phones, Instagram, and some of my favorite bloggers/creative types. Last week, they all came together providing a behind-the-scenes look at a Kelly Wearstler RTW fashion shoot. Kelly's Malibu home provided the perfect backdrop and may be one of my favorite KWID designs (neutral colors + bold shapes/textures).

With phones in hand, Karen Robinovitz (@karenrobinovitz), Jamie Beck (@_frommetoyou), The Glamourai (@theglamourai) et al. shared their experience via Instagram. I didn't spot any pics of the design goddess herself, but her presence can be seen throughout.

Thanks for sharing, ladies! I look forward to the final product.

[Update: The Glamourai posted her images on Facebook. Check it out!]

Interiors: Lustrous...

A modern space with such minimal color should seem stark. Not here. The tiled accent wall amplifies sunlight making the entire room glow! It may not be exactly my style but I appreciate the fun mix of furnishings, casual jewelry display, and fab pumps. Besides, "shiny" is always glamorous!

P.S. You may have noticed the new website. Please bear with me as I get use to things, e.g., accidentally publishing drafts. Oops!

Interiors: Go Glamour…

Behold this glamour-ladened living room by Fox-Nahem Design. Still deciding whether I’m more smitten by the tall ceilings, Italian chandelier, or beautiful blue tones (or is that gray?). The tufted chairs by William Haines are also on my radar. How posh.
