Friday Fashion: Lanvin Resort 2014

If resort collections clothe the wealthy during winter’s jet-setting months, my first thought upon viewing Lanvin’s offering was "Where is THIS girl going?!?" The pieces are varied but undeniably glamorous: draped and structured silhouettes in both vibrant and muted shades. Ruffles, embellishment, solids, bold prints, sneakers???… I turned to my favorite fashion resources for answers.

I soon discovered that this collection is less about vacation and more about lifestyle. Where is this girl going? Everywhere! From yachting to job interviews, or even an aunt’s funeral, Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz created a look for every moment. "It’s not just about design. It’s about lifestyle, and fitting the needs around the day." Which is your favorite?

Friday Fashion: Olivia Palermo for Carrera y Carrera

Here she is—Olivia Palermo looking glamorous as usual. This most recent appearance is part of an ad campaign for Spanish jeweler Carrera y Carrera. The styling, however, has become Olivia’s calling card, smoky eyes and classic silhouettes set against a beautiful backdrop.

Perhaps it was her fierce attitude, but few could top Cara Delevingne’s appearance preceding the Cannes Film Festival’s opening ceremony. Despite the rain, she worked the red carpet like a high-fashion editorial. Wearing a lace gown by Burberry Prorsum, diamonds by Chopard, and a freshly-inked finger tattoo, Cara proves that attitude is everything.

Friday Fashion: Karmen Pedaru for Vogue Germany

Glamour overdose! Vogue Germany's cover story, aptly titled High Glam, proves that too much of a good thing can still be a really good thing! We all know how much I love strong, sexy, and sophisticated editorials. Needless to say, this one delivers on all fronts. Karmen Pedaru, plus a striking poolside setting, kicks off summer with a sizzle!

And now to the absolutely GORGEOUS cover.  Is summer the most glamorous time of year? I’m beginning to think so.

DC Design House 2013: The Master Suite

Modern meets glamour in this show home’s master suite, with the latter achieved via shimmering touches in the bedroom. Designer Susan Jamieson created a palette of blue, gray, cream, and gold based on the suite's existing fixtures. Personal favorites include a gold-finished canopy bed, complete with an über-luxe (read "expensive") Savoir mattress, and grand nest chandelier.

Susan paid close attention to the fifth wall throughout the space (aka, the ceiling), covering it in high-gloss paint and reflective wallpapers. She notes, "It’s all about the details and creating contrasting visuals…" I love the Maya Romanoff paper used overhead as you approach the modern master bath.

The master bath's designer, Darlene Molnar, used Bertoia side chairs with custom leather seats in the vanity area. The seats were made by Darlene's father, who just happens to be a skilled leatherworker. Aren’t they fabulous?
