The name Sukio comes from the Japanese word for "like" or "love" but now has become synonymous with what I find luxe, lovely, and too chic not to share! My aesthetic of choice: MODERN GLAMOUR – a style that marries multiple ideas, viewing traditional notions of glamour through a sophisticated lens. In a word, it’s sooo Sukio! - Desiré

Interiors: New Orleans Home by Lee Ledbetter

New Orleans home by Lee Ledbetter

Designed by Lee Ledbetter, this historic New Orleans residence was formerly a hotel operated by the home-owner. To say I love this house would be an understatement. So, I'll say very little and let the pictures speak for themselves!

Interiors: A Gallerist's Artsy Sao Paulo Space

As my contemporary art collection continues to grow, I'm always thinking of new ways to showcase each piece throughout my tiny condo. Perhaps, someday, my walls will be covered from floor to ceiling much like the home of art dealer Maria Baró. The space offers a refreshing alternative to the common, gallery-white backdrop and teaches us that when in doubt, pile it on.

Interiors: Global Views' Rick Janecek

Global Views is one of my favorite resources for modern glamour furniture and accessories. So, I was excited to see the home of the company’s creative director, Rick Janecek, in a recent issue of D Magazine. The space is open and airy with lots of interesting touches including prototypes designed for Global Views.

The living room features a custom sofa and swan chairs salvaged from a trash bin in Atlanta. The painting is from a Pennsylvania museum that was going out of business. On mixing and matching, Janecek notes, "…if I find something I really like, I’m going to get it and figure out how to make it work."

The formal dining room (above) features custom chairs and a tabletop made from goose egg shells. The table’s centerpiece includes a pair of 1820s merman candlesticks. (Below) A series of rooms and hallways were transformed into a spacious kitchen. Janecek designed the chandelier over the kitchen table for Global Views. The chairs are vintage, and the art is by Max Heimann.

More lighting from Global Views can be found in the great room. (Below) The wingbacks belonged to Janecek’s grandmother and the table is from a Paris flea market.

Interiors: Black, White, and Whimsical

Designer Janet Rice’s Dallas home proves that you don’t need a lot of color to make an impact. With a minimalist palette of black and white, Janet uses shape, texture, and pattern to add interest to her living space.

In the living room area, Janet opted for modern pieces including tailored brown sofas and a white buffet by Ligne Roset. The zebra-patterned rug is by Diane Von Furstenberg for the Rug Company.

Interiors should reflect the personality and individual style of the owner. That takes attention to detail, impeccable taste, a discerning eye, unexpected elements, integrity, a minimalist approach, a wink to high/low, patience, and a sense of humor. - Janet Rice

The dining area mixes old with new. Janet reupholstered her grandmother’s chairs and paired them with a black granite and lucite table. Custom doors lead to the family room beyond.

A hand-painted leaf motif adds whimsy to the family room. The occasional chairs are from Janet’s collection and include the JRR Club Chair and Jayne’s Chair, a pink tufted piece named for the designer’s young daughter.

Interiors: Modern Glamour on Mercer Island

Kelly Wearstler has such a powerful and distinct point of view that most people either love it or just don’t get it. I’m sure you know which camp I’m in! And no matter how you feel on the matter, it’s undeniable that her provocative designs are one of a kind. Kelly’s recent project, an 11,000 sqft Mercer Island home, is a perfect example. Here’s a peak courtesy of Elle Décor.

The walls of the entry are painted in Glidden's (Yes! Good ol' Glidden) Onyx Black and the patterned floor uses 3 different marbles. The chandelier is vintage and on the ceiling, a striped wall covering by SJW Studios. Homeowner Lara Sanderson refers to the space as "the Kelly special."

Kelly sacrificed a small, upstairs bedroom to create this double-height library. Of the custom brass spiral staircase, Kelly remarks, "It was like adding a piece of jewelry to the room."

Below: Two purple Venetian glass chandeliers hang above purple, Art Deco dining chairs. Ceilings by De Gournay, walls by Cannon/Bullock, and a rug by... the Rug Company (who else?).
