The name Sukio comes from the Japanese word for "like" or "love" but now has become synonymous with what I find luxe, lovely, and too chic not to share! My aesthetic of choice: MODERN GLAMOUR – a style that marries multiple ideas, viewing traditional notions of glamour through a sophisticated lens. In a word, it’s sooo Sukio! - Desiré

Interiors: Lorenzo Castillo's Swank Dining Room

Looking more like a swank hotel lounge than a residence, Lorenzo Castillo may have designed one of the most glamorous, little dining rooms in all of Madrid. The space is not much wider than a hallway, but its sparkling sophistication makes quite the impact. The armchairs, tables, and mirrors are by Castillo, and the light fixtures are 19th century. The glamour continues through to the adjacent kitchen with its black lacquered custom cabinetry.

Apparently, we design bloggers aren’t the only ones who appreciate the space. Castillo’s dining room is so spectacular that it has also hosted fashion shoots with top model Karlie Kloss and everyone’s favorite socialite, Olivia Palermo. Fantastico, no?

Interiors: Lilly Bunn's Gleaming Entryway

Lilly Bunn Entryway

I just had to share this little space – a gleaming hallway by Lilly Bunn. First spotted in the September issue of Lonny, I recently discovered these pics showing the entry hall in its full glory. Lilly overruled her initial idea of a Gracie mural for this peacock blue lacquered finish. In fact, I think entry halls may be one of the most lacquered spaces in interior design (See these lovely examples: 1, 2).

So, what’s the key to getting the perfect finish? Designer Miles Redd, perhaps the king of high shine, advises, "You need a great painter, who will sand the walls to be as smooth as glass, and then a good quality high gloss oil paint. It has to be oil, to get the sheen!" Finish it off with a sea urchin light fixture and a gold, wallpapered ceiling (gorgeous!) for an incredibly glamorous entry!

Interiors: A Global London Townhouse

Today’s post takes you inside the London townhouse of Kim Hersov, editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar UK. With the help of designer Hubert Zandberg, Kim filled her home with flea market finds in addition to personal belongings assembled throughout the years – from her grandmother’s silver candlesticks to accessories acquired during visits to South Africa.

The family room’s contents reflect the layered and global aesthetic of Kim’s home with finds from Africa, Brazil, Holland, and Paris. The dining room features leather chairs from Spain and an Italian chandelier.

I’m most fond of the master suite. The bedroom’s silk covered walls, custom four-poster bed, mix of textiles, and Asian-influenced pieces are absolutely beautiful. The master bath is just as lovely!

Interiors: Lauren Santo Domingo's Paris Duplex

Speaking of APT with LSD, Lauren’s own home was featured in the September issue of Vogue. You may have seen her New York apartment (posted here and here), but Vogue now takes us inside her Paris duplex, which serves as home base 4-5 times a year. Two words: I wish! Wow. It’s so bright and glamorous with lots of references to the French modern aesthetic that I love so much.

The space, which is conveniently located upstairs from Lauren’s in-laws, was designed by legendary decorator Francois Catroux. "The architecture was beautiful; I didn’t want to change that." Agreed! So, the designer set out to renovate the entire apartment while painstakingly preserving all architectural detail including the 18th-century plasterwork.

What the apartment lacks in color, it certainly makes up for in texture, shape, and artwork. Modern art and sculpture can be found everywhere – from the fireplace mantel to the dining room table to the bedroom walls. Its contrast to the home's architecture keeps stodginess at bay while creating yet another one-of-a-kind, slightly whimsical, urban retreat for the Santo Domingo clan!

Interiors: Kelly Behun Designs Ivanka's Private Pad

Ivanka Trump NYC Apartment by Kelly Behun

Designed by Kelly Behun (previously featured here), Ivanka Trump’s home on the Upper East Side is full of luxurious furniture and finishes. The apartment is fairly neutral (a recurring theme as of late) but has lots of “look at me” pieces that leave this space far from boring. For example, oversized, purple artwork in the dining room makes quite a statement against Donald Kaufman’s DKC-84, a light gray. The same is true of the den’s bright, blue lacquered desk. As for my favorite rooms, I’m torn between the dining room and bedroom. You know I can’t resist a luscious fur throw!

Ivanka and her husband met in the middle to create a modern glamour pad that reflects both their tastes:

Being traditional and feminine, I wanted luxury and glamour, while Jared gravitates toward the modern, which can be austere. – Ivanka Trump
